An amateur’s introduction to watch repair

Hello there! I am an amateur watch repairer, and I’ll be using this site to document my journey towards being (perhaps) less of an amateur. Each post will be a documentation of the work I did on a single piece/movement, along with a description of the where I got it, and any information I felt like gathering about it.

As the name of the site implies, I am very much an amateur, so there will be many mistakes and silly errors. I am completely self-taught, and my only source of “education” is through watching lots of YouTube videos, my favorite channels being Wristwatch Revival, Vintage Watch Services, and My Retro Watches.

The image above is a watch I restored that I picked up in a flea market in Berlin, Germany.

Welcome to Amateur Hour Watch Restoration! I am a completely self-taught hobbyist watch repairer, and I am documenting my journey here.

Most of what I have learned is through YouTube videos; my favorite channels to learn from are Wristwatch Revival, Vintage Watch Services, and My Retro Watches.
